New "Old" Farmhouse

     

    Custom Architect Serving Purcellville, VA


    The client for this new house in a suburban community wanted to build a home that felt like a historic home, but featured energy efficient construction and solar panels. The client also requested that the floor plans and rooms feature different ceiling heights and detailing, as well as dormer windows.


    We decided to look to a classic building style common to Maryland and Virginia: the telescoping house. Built in stages, these homes often started small and were expanded over time with larger additions. Each subsequent addition often reflected newer architectural styles.
